Daily Scrum (In Scrum Methodology)

Daily scrum is a stand-up meeting to provide a status update (to know the progress/ figure out any hurdles and any gap) to the team members. Scrum master can join this meeting and even product owner is welcome to be a part of this, but product owner must be a silent listener as long as there is no query by feature team for him.
It is to plan that how to approach/solve if any issue/hurdle or complexity. In daily scrum team member chooses the tasks and put estimates/re-estimates.

Philosophy behind stand-up meeting is that team will be panic to stand for long time, so they will be focused to finish it in shorter time usually 15-20 minutes; this helps to avoid any chit-chat.

Basically daily scrum is to focus in three below area:
i)         What about deliverable of yesterday?
ii)     What you are picking for today?
iii)   What issues/hurdles/complexity is slowing you down?

These questions must be tracked and team should work together to come out if any issues.

Meeting time must be fixed and it must be in start of the day (i.e. morning), which better suits to ask above 3 questions. If answer/clarification of any query made by team member is time consuming then it must be taken later, after daily scrum with only minimum required people. If any team member has any query/stuck point after daily-scrum he should not wait for next day’s scrum meeting, he must arrange a meeting that time itself with team to discuss the same.
One important thing about daily scrum is that it is not to provide the status update to management or stake-holder/product-owner; it is just to ensure the proper co-ordination/communication/hand-shaking between team.
